Wind Ensemble I is the premier auditioned concert band at Mt. Carmel High School, representing the highest level of wind and percussion performance in the department. Composed of advanced musicians who have demonstrated exceptional technical mastery and artistic maturity, this elite ensemble tackles a sophisticated repertoire of standard and contemporary wind literature. Members of Wind Ensemble I also frequently form the core wind and percussion sections of the MCHS Symphony Orchestra.
Wind Ensemble II is an advanced-intermediate auditioned ensemble designed for musicians who possess strong fundamental skills and are ready to explore more complex literature. Focus is placed on developing refined ensemble blend, advanced technique, and expressive musicianship. This ensemble serves as a vital stepping stone in our concert program, challenging students with diverse and rigorous repertoire while preparing them for upper-level performance opportunities.
The Concert Band is the foundational ensemble of the Mt. Carmel instrumental program and serves as the welcoming entry point for most incoming freshmen. This ensemble focuses heavily on reinforcing core musical fundamentals, expanding instrumental ranges, mastering signature techniques, and developing essential large-ensemble skills. In a supportive and collaborative environment, Concert Band provides young musicians with the vital musical bedrock needed to thrive in high school and transition smoothly into our advanced ensembles.
