8th NOTES! A message to 8th grade students and their parents.

Welcome to one of the most exciting, rewarding, and defining experiences our school has to offer: our Band and Orchestra program! Those of us who have dedicated our careers to music know firsthand the incredible, lifelong rewards that come with this journey, many of which go far beyond the notes on a page.

Studies consistently show that music students are among the academically strongest in their schools, regularly averaging higher SAT scores than their peers. More importantly, the high school music experience builds a foundational blueprint for adult success. Through rehearsals and performances, students develop deep self-discipline, teamwork, high self-esteem, persistence, and confidence. As your child gains command of their instrument, you will see this same drive for excellence carry over into their academic classes and personal growth.

Music offers a unique vehicle for creativity and self-expression, and we highly encourage parents to share in this exciting process. If your student enjoyed middle school music, they are going to love the high school experience. Sometimes incoming freshmen are hesitant to take the leap, but missing out on 9th-grade music would be a massive missed opportunity. We strongly encourage you to have your student sign up for Band or Orchestra this year so they can experience one of the finest music programs in the state of California.
